Outlook - Calendar Responses
Microsoft Outlook is the defacto application for University email. When an invitee receives an Outlook meeting request, he/she gets three options – Accept, Tentative or Decline.
Under each of those choices, invitees have three additional response options, Edit the Response before Sending, Send the Response Now and Do Not Send a Response. See the screen shot below.
Many people select “Do Not Send a Response” thinking that they are doing the meeting organizer a favor by not cluttering up their inbox. However, if you select “Do Not Send a Response,” the meeting organizer will not be able to determine whether you have accepted or declined the meeting.
You can see below, what this looks like. Mark accepted the meeting request but selected, “Do Not Send a Response.” To the meeting organizer, it appears that he hasn’t yet acted upon the meeting request.
